reissues vs OGs for sampling is a moot point......

if its been reissued, its been sampled by many

the whole point of cats gettin heated about reissues is they may have sampled ish from the OG, and now that the reissue is out, a whole buncha new jacks have access......

but personally I could give a fuk...if its hot its hot

plus the reissues on 180 gram vinyl=bliss

reissues are wonderful...bootlegs are not...at least not always...

I'll buy bootlegs of stuff I'm not ever going to realistically find...headless heroes of the apocalypse, for instance... 8 bucks or whatever, just so I can know what's on the record. If there were an official repress and dude's estate was getting the money, of course I'd buy that for a little bit more...

dude above said it too, just the fact that people found it worthwhile to bootleg or repress, that pretty much precludes it from having anything on it that hasn't already been used a billion times...

you'll hear the rumblings all the time though, "hey man you got a mint copy of so and so's such and such, we should find somebody on the DL to press up 500 copies and sell them as 'promo only white labels' on sandboxautomatic.com" or whatever...

I really like the stones throw dooley-o type stuff though, where I know the guy is getting some money and there are no secrets... There's nothing worse than buying some bootleg of something you've always wanted and having it sound like it's in the neighbor's basement or whatever...it's like kissing your sister type stuff...

I buy re-issues. Usually because I actually like the music, and want to play it and listen to it.

If I found a few rare and expen$ive albums, however, I'd probably keep them on the shelf and buy re-issues to play anyway, or make CDs from them.

As for sampling? I'll sample from whatever I want.
