An MPC2500 with 100GB hard drive?

Maybe you can scoop up some CD drives for us...Use your hustle man! =)

Just got my 2500........my 1st MPC ....got tired of my doggs draggin' for me.

what type of ram? maybe the 2500 can type more than 128mb????? maybe 512mb like the 4000.

and what type harddrive........regular desktop hd's or labtop hd's? and does it have to be 5400rpm's????

The following hard drives have been tested and approved for use in the MPC2500:

Seagate ST92011A ST92011A 20GB
Fujitsu MHN2200AT MHN2200AT 20GB
Fujitsu MHM2200AT MHM2200AT 20GB
Toshiba MK4026GAX MK4026GAX 40GB
Hitachi Travelstar HTS541080G9AT00 80GB

ya I peeped those.......all LABTOP harddrives(2.5") cool Still wondering if that 128mb ram card is a custom card or is it standard off the shelf labtop ram also? I have to load my new sounds from www.beatsbymail.com asap

this thread will clear everything regarding the RAM. it's in the 1000 forum but the 2.5k uses the same exact RAM and is located in the same exact place. if you buy (non-akai) RAM from the store, you have to buy 256MB of ram not 128mb.

now if only we could find a 3rd party cd-r/dvd drive that works. I did a a few searches last night but i will try again today. Maybe someone who bought the Akai drive can give the specs from the labeling. Maybe a 3rd party makes it for Akai and just put the "AKAI" sticker on it????? I tried my IBM cd-r/dvd drive from my labtop with no luck. it will open and close but will not recognize it.

I got 1 for sale for 150.00 An Akai CD\DVD Drive.

I maxed my MPC using only Akai products or approved items...mainly to give proper feedback to the OS programmers/testers.

I have both Akai Ram and CD-M25 combor drive and the approved Toshiba 40 gig drive.

I tried using other models of CDR/DVD drives with no success.

i thought you could only use one or the other

no, on the 2.5k there is room for both the hard drive and the cd drive.

No. You can however load samples that were saved on a DVD Rom.

In order to have DVD Movie play back functions, the DVD would need a decoder. I seriously doubt this function will be in an MPC anytime soon.... an MPC with a VGA port and DVD movie playback???
