How should I ease into the MPC 1000

Tuesday it comes. So far I have read the manual a couple times over and I think in order to really understand it I need the machine in front of me. I'm new to the production field and was curious if you guys have any advice how to come into the mpc slowly so that I fully get a grasp of this machine.

P.s. where are the best place to pick up drumb sounds. I see all kind of cd's on ebay but wonder ed if you guys had some kind of inside secret of where to get the best drumbs.

On the MPC Samples site you referred to Tutor, will they work with the 1000 or does the buyer have to beware of which CD he's buying?

I read in one of the posts where many of the CDs are not compatible with the 1000 and I think it was you that said, you and your people were going to go through and ensure CDs will work in the 1000.

Answered my own question with another vist.

"All CDs are in standard ISO9660 format and organised into folders which means are completely compatible with the MPC2000XL, MPC4000, the new MPC1000 and all PC and Mac software - just load into your CDROM drive, select the sounds you want and start creating your next track."

The sounds on the MPC Drum CD will work with the MPC1000. As for the downloadable packs, only the ones in the 'MPC1000' section are currently compatible, but we'll convert the rest as soon as possible.

well.. as far as being on topic on your question about "easing onto the mpc1000"..this is what i would recommend..
since youve read the manual.. you have an idea of what the machine is capable of..correct?
id maybe load some samples on a cf card if i had an extra (speaking in your point of view..sry).. anyways, and then id go test this gained knowledge from reading the manual over and over and see if this was the sampler of my dreams and pocketbook..or not..
if youve really read the manual that many times.. you should know by now.. hell you know by reading the tiny manual..the quick start guide..at least a lil if itll fit your needs. i dont believe there is a such thing as an ease of transition for gear software instruments orwhatnot.. its just that everything has a learning curve..and since we all have different ideas along with different mental capacities.. its all on you bro.. are you trying to find someone to break down the science?
personaly..i think ..if your interested.. go buy one from a reputable dealer (not ebay) and keep your reciept..and pay with a credit card so you can get credit back immediately, instead of waiting two weeks for loot.. then you can see how much it fits your slate of needs.. and while your at it.. read manuals for everything you consider.. youll see.. if not accurately.. at least a peek into what the machine can do..
