Hey all. First post I think. SWEET! Well I tried using search but it didn't help much. Here's the deal. I'm on the MPC2000. I'm getting SCSI READ ERROR and SCSI WRITE ERROR when trying to load from a zip, and trying to format a zip. It's on ID 5, and it's terminated via the switch. The MPC recognizes the zip drive as a device. It just ain't reading or writing I guess? I'm thinkin I prolly got a bad drive, but just wanted some input from you fellas. So any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried a different disc?

Have you formatted the disk on the mpc?

It sounds like you have the right options set but if you don't format the disk it's a no go.

my zip eventually broke and those were the messages I got when that happened. I tried everything from changing disks to formatting to termination to whatever. i finally assumed it was broken.

but just incase you have termination OFF, it needs to be set to ON

Thanks for the replys. Yeah I've tried 2 discs and I can't even format them! It says SCSI WRITE ERROR when I try to. Yeah Smoove03 it sounds like maybe that's my problem then. If you got the same messages as me then prolly the drive. I talked to the guys up at work, the computer techs, and they said zip drives take a beating over time too just from normal use so they do wear out. And yeah, termination is on. It's def hooked up right cause it recognizes the device, just won't read or write.
