jefferson airplane vs jefferson starship?

i never heard any jefferson starship songs but i like jefferson airplane - do they do the same kind of music? my mom told me they are a watered down version of what they used to be what do yall think...

your moms right, she nows . jefferson starship was in the 60 and they were like acid rock , doors type shizz good stuff, think airplane went christian rock, i got both there ablums cause i love 70's classic rock starship is kinda rare to find in the bins i've only found one in the last year of diggin hard and it was pretty beat up, but if you find some pick it up they had a great sound.

i see this starship record wit a red cover and like a gold somethin on the front double lp or gatefold looked aight i got the jefferson airplane wit white rabbit

yeah sorry it was vise versa i dont kno what happen it was late night, yeah i have red record i think it's caleed octopus or something like that, i kno one is a classic acid rock and the other is more chritsian rock type music but still good stuff.

yeah but ones an earlier 60's acid rock the other is a more softer type christian rock sound.

If you really want to be anal about it, the first Jefferson Starship record could be "blows against the empire" attributed to Paul Kantor & the Jefferson Starship (1970). It's a hot folk record. Agreed though, Starship blew, definatly from 1975 on.

I wouldn't diss too hard on the J-starship. They had so many musicians coming and going, and their music more or less was just evolving because of it. I do think that once they lost Balin & Slick, that Katner was the only original member, and even HE got sick of how corporate rock they were sounding about 78 or so....But when Grace came back "Find your way back" was the last hit they had before Katner wanted to sue them for continuing the J-starship name, which is why they just shortened it to Starship. But if anything, I personally think that J-starship wasn't all that bad, and had a better sound that was less psychadelic haze, more AOR/70's pop....It's just a matter of taste I guess......
