DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I COULD GET GOOD JAZZ SNARES AND KICKS?

OH YEAH I FORGOT TO MENTION I PREFER 50'S TO 60'S SAMPLES.

to be helpful however, ive found better snares and kicks in ballad/crooner jazz then bebop stuff (though im a huge bebop fan....)

look out for carmen mcrae or similar gorgeous black singers. their backing bands had room to breathe, whereas the dizzie gillespie style of bebop jazz will be drowned in horns

thats a pretty obvious tip though so feel free to dig a bit deeper.

50s jazz.... you can find some dope Swing records out there still. some early duke ellington is sample=able.

All I know is, you could make a lot better use of your money than shelling out $195 for a CD of wack samples.

You can easily do a search on the net for free samples, even Tutor has some demos of free stuff you can download. You don't have to ask anyone else to do the work for you, that's lazy..

What's wrong with asking people for something, i thought this forum was meant to help each other. If there is people willing to help, i see that as a really good thing, i would hate to have a forum where people were not excited to help, the reason why i love this forum is because people are always willing to help. I won't say that ALL sample CD's are a bad choice.....but most of them are not even close to being worth the money. Before you buy one, make sure you've heard some of the sounds first and you like them. I'll tell you that there are places to find free sounds around the web if you look. Free sounds have been discussed in this forum many times, and there are links to some in those threads if you search.

If you're into buying sounds, why not check out some of MPC-TUTOR's sample packs. "Breaks N Bass" is really nice, and cheap too. They're reasonably priced, so if they don't work for your needs, you're not out too much dough. Plus, you'll be supporting the upkeep of this site!

As far as GIVING you sounds that I've sampled. Sorry, I've spent too much time, effort, and vinyl to just fork over my personal library of stuff I sampled/edited by hand. Most people in here are more than willing to HELP you, but not willing to do all the work FOR you.
However, there was a cat in here named 'egokilla' who was mad generous enough to post tons of free sounds - most of which came from sound modules. Search through his posts and you will find them. He was even selling sample CDs at VERY reasonable prices.

Yeah, them sounds is alright, better than what I expected. That would be a good idea for KeepinTouch2k4 to check that out.

hiphop isnt a fashion. sure you have to pay to play, but its not just money. DIG for samples, and if youre using a sampler... then SAMPLE. if you want to know the dope jazz records to sample, then ask that. hell i gave you a heads up on that too. ive been digging for 5 years at various levels of intensity and thats just too much time and money to feed some n00b my knowledge.

I dont need no more samples, i got it from peepz i know on other forums, and i actually know alot of producers and keep their contacts cuz they come handy. Having said that let me move on and let me tell you some of the sounds i'm aiming for:

that snare and (hithat/snare-like) Dre used on "No Diggity"
that kick alchemist used on "I can"
that snare Dre used on "back down"

these samples dont sound like real jazz drums but i'm convinced they
originally were jazz samples, and been tweaked and mixed with some
hip hop samples.

I'm very PICKY about the sounds i use, i dont just use any sample!

Check it man, dig for your own samples since you are that picky.

Asking because you don't feel like doing it yourself is lazy and everyone knows that.. There's just TOO many ways you can dig.. Not only records, although diggin usually refers to vinyl. Me, myself, aint trying to feed you sounds that took me a while to build up, you should be getting your own sounds and makin your own library ya feel that..

You gotta put in work man. I feel what D_Samp is sayin on the really real..
