Should I Buy: MPC 2000xl or RS 7000

That's the truth right there! You definately have to know what your looking for BEFORE you go in that store. As most of you know, I'm nterested in synth VST's, but I needed a host program to run it. Yesterday, I asked for a little advice. The guy first hands me a box with some plugin's. Not the plug-in for the synth that I wanted (the ARP 2600) just some unknown synth for $100.00 I told him I needed the program to run the VST, so he hands me a copy of cubase for $289.00. I let him know that I just need it to host a program, and he tells me that cubase is a better host because it has more features...(the features are in the VST..) but he mentions that I'm going to also need a new soundcard because the VST's sound SO good that a stock card is the reason why they sound bad. He hands me a $169 soundcard that, "can get the job done," but reccomends some other card that is roughly double the price.. I plan on using VST synth's to save some money. If I listened to him, I would be coming out of about $600. Ohh, he was going to be nice and offered to knock $10 off the soundcard. R_Solez!

buy an rs7000. way better than an mpc. in a couple of years, no one will even know what an mpc is, but they'll still be talking about the rs7000.

if the sequencer on the rs7000 is anything like it is on the su700 you might consider getting it depending on the price. the only problem that i had with the su700 was not being able to sequence external gear with it cause its kinda self contained unit, but i think they changed that with the rs7000.

plus those guitar center guys get incentives if they sell so many of certain units. I remember one of them telling me that if they sold 10 tritons they would get a free one.

I think protools is for sure the same way.

Hold off on getting both and wait for the MPC2500 that no one said was going to be made and that Akai will release in the year 2005.
