the review as promised:

the grabber is a great tool for live mixng and remixing but not for beatmakers....

pros:
-very efficent signal routing, makes it very easy to mix in sampled material without changing how you normally have your mixer and TTs set up
-auto beat detect of cue material
-adjusts tempos (with time stretch) of sampled loops to live audio instantly
-easy to shift loops to cue to ensure proper time sync
-looping is quick and takes liitle to no effort, the grabber reads the tempo of sample material prior to sampling and samples 1,2,4,8,or 16 beats
-great for mixing in vocal tags to mix without the annying DJ Clue type voiceovers
-fast and accurate bpm counter
-can play in cyclic, hold, or reverse modes


cons:
-24/96 sample rate it may be but sounds very thin
-AGC often messes up "sound" of smaple material
-i found the 1 and 2 beat-long sample pads very unusable
-if this had a tt-M1 input i would be in heaven

used it out yet?

I got a gig thurday night, so that will be the first time out.....

but everytime i use it i find a new trick to encorporate it into my set......

i just wish it could save

oh yeah and now i need a mixer with 3 channels....grrrrrr


i mean you can use it with a 2 channel mixer but having a third channel would allow me to mix using the grabber, plus two TTs

BTW, Don't just limit yourself to using it with a DJ set. They are great for DJ sets, but they are also great for Live sets. At any time, you can instantly grab 1,2,4, 8, 16 bar loops of what is being heard and have it synced IN TIME with your stuff. Its a great segue tool , to go between 2 different songs. Take a couple of different elements from your songs with it, start playing those loops from the PVDJ while you are using "next sequence" on your MPC. You still have the first song going from PVDJ and then you can start mixing in parts of the next track with the track mute function. If your second song is slower then the first one, the PVDJ will automatically sync what your doing to the new BPM.

It's one of the best tools for a live musician to have to make perfectly blended segues from one song to another, like a good dj would, but all being done live.
