Went 2 my boys crib and RESAVED my SEQUENCE FILES on the 2K. I had everything as ALL files so the 2500 couldn't read it. Anywhooo as I resaved I had no problem---remembered to give the seq's different #'s so there would be no conflict. THEN IT HAPPENED--I went to drop and drag the files onto my CF card and it's like NOOOOOOOOOOOO----Seq already exists---would you like to overwrite? NOOOOOO Windows doesn't read the #'s after the seq files so ------NO LOADING unless you have ONLY ONE SEQUENCE--NOT VARIOUS. I did the only thing I could do---made a file for my songs and dragged my samples into them---I'll just recreate the songs and make them better. THAT WAS NOT A SMOOTH TRANSITION! If you're gonna get a 2500---track all your old songs first before you make the switch!

Akai clearly stated that the 2500 only reads MPC2000/2000XL SEQ, WAV, SND, and PGM files (Most parameters of PGM file can be loaded.). So it is pointless to get frustrated about it not loading ALL files.

So Windows doesn't read the #s in the name of the SEQ file?? IF so, why not use letters instead?

Its ok...cuz they still beat the #2 seeded team in the NFC today...as long as they win the final 3 games..they will at least get the final wild card slot and will most likely face Cinn again. (1-1 record against them this year). I like their chances.

is this a problem with the mac also, cuz all my sequences that I resaved I named them sequence1, sequence2,....etc.

I'll be dragging my files from a usb zip connected to the computer and then to the 2500

will I run into this same problem or is it only windows? why wouldnt it read the numbers?

has anybody had this problem with a mac computer

Like they did the first time at home? Naw..they got man handled. The 2nd game, they won by a score...but Pit played very poorly that day..and it was still a tight game. Next game will be different with Pitt on top knocking them out of the play offs :!:

I hope they aren't your team :D

I tried that also-----no luck. I don't know if it'll happen in a MAC computer.

Cre8tive and Fist, I think that the problem that you are encountering is windows is truncating the names of your files because it won't read file names that have more than 8 characters. When you are backing up your files from your 2000xl keep the names of all files under 8 characters or you are going to have problems when you try to load those files again after transfering them to your windows computers, im not sure about MAC's. I haven't brought my 2500 yet but I will before the end of the year, so I haven't tested this but I am pretty sure thats where your problem is coming in because you said that windows is taking the number off of the sequence names so if you have a sequence named sequence7 that's 9 characters and windows is going to truncate that #7 off not because it's a number but because it's the 9th character. So try that and let me know if that helps. I have been naming my sequences SEQ1, SEQ2 and so on. Again remember this applies to all files including wave, snd, midi, you have to rename everything with less than 8 characters if you plan to take it to PC and bring it back to your MPC. That's why its taking me so long to backup my files, It's a Headache but you got to do it. I am actually considering keeping my 2000xl and still getting a 2500 because I have so many disk to back up like 8 years worth spanning my 2000 and 2000xl.

Side note. I am a die hard Steelers fan, my prediction is that they will win out make the playoffs as a wild card meet Cinci in the wildcard game and whoop them at home again cause they are still over rated beat us a week ago because of injury and a young O-line and we still had a chance to tie with 2 mins left. Then we will go on to meet the Pats in the divisional playoff game in Boston and beat them there and then meet the Colts in the AFC championship and beat them to go on to the superbowl  we will revenge 3 of our losses this year in the playoffs on our way to one for the thumb. And probably playing on the road is a blessing for us seeing how home field hasn't helped in the past. Cinci is good but they are not as good as they think, they almost lost to the Clowns (Browns) yesterday and after they beat us last week they acted like they had already won the Superbowl, very stupid. I do like Chad Johnson though, eventhough he can't seem to score when Ike Taylor is checking him when he plays us, NO TD's this year against us.................................Wait this is a MPC forum, Sorry for that rant, but I couldn't resist.
