Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hello,

First off I did do a search and have not found someone with the same problem that did what I did. Second, I have built a number of computers so I know how to stay ground while working on sensitive parts.

I bought a 32mb upgrade off ebay. This chips arrived and I installed both and it still shows 2mb. Then I tried each one seperate in both slots and it always showed 2mb.

Next I told the guy he sent me bad memory and he was nice and sent me another 2 sticks. I just got done installing those and testing them in different slots and even trying to mix and match between all 4 sticks and I never even got too 18mb of sampling time.

With all of this done where can I go from there. I am starting to feel either this guy is a scammer or my mpc's ram slots are bad? Everything else work great and I have never had it freeze. If anyone has some insight on what could be wrong or what I need to do further please help.

Thanks,
-G

Are you 100% sure you have the memory sticks fully 'clicked' in??

Well when they are installed the have them upright in the slot and the 2 holes each have the plastic nubs in them. I dont want to jam on them too hard. If I find it is the memory would it be cheaper to get a whole new unit or fix this one?
