Thinking of updating from 2k to a 2kxl.

Thinking of updating from 2k to a 2kxl.
Will the xl read my external HD straight off or will i have to reformat and loose the programs?
Can I transfer my memory chips ok?

i just did this two days ago. unloaded my mpc 2000 back to guitar center and ugraded to the xl....

i burnt the scsi fuse on my mpc so i said fuggit..
the xl is nice as hell. smaller, with a few better features.

you should definitely be able to transfer the memory chips fine.

as far as your harddrive reading shit, im not sure. im thinking you should be okay though..

It should read your old programs fine, My boy has a 2000 and my XL reads his disk without any problems.

It does bring up a question though... what are the differences between the xl and the classic 2000 (and I'm not asking in terms of flip up screens or extra buttons)? Are they different in terms of opperating systems and/or abilities? Is the xl "better" or just different?
