Couple of questions for you. Do you have sound card with MIDI connections? Second are you using the MPC as a drum machine or sequencer and drum machine? To setup a MPC and PC together from what i've read. You use the MIDI MTC feature on the MPC (slave) to your PC (master). Then you set the tempo from what ever app you're using Cubase, Logic, etc... Let me know if this helps if not i'm sure some other people here are willing to pitch and help out too.

Within Reason you have to select the proper MIDI port and enable it per channel, setting each channel to an individual piece of virtual gear.
Set the redrum to Channel 1, for instance, and then set the MPC's track to MIDI, Out A1 or whatever. You should have control over all the drums, with one of them appearing on the second bank of pads on the MPC.
I have had one weird problem with this sort of setup, in that whenever I stop the beat and start again, it automatically places the redrum rack at full volume. No idea why. Anyhow, haven't messed with this setup for a few weeks.

I use the nn-xst sampler for drums
Actually I use Reason for all my drum sounds
MPC as a midi controller
I had to make a MPC-PC Midi program so I have all the pads in a sequencial order and then i know what pads are what everytime
Then in reason i use the nn-xst sampler and which gives me more control over th sound.
Then I take the output channels of each drum sounds and into a seperate mixer and have even more control of teh sounds
then if you have Cubase or logic etc... you route the Rewire channels to a seperate track and get even more control over individual sounds
