I want to Hook everything Midi, is it possible?

I am new to the forums and I have read a lot of info on here, but I did not come across my problem. I want to hook up my computer, roland vs 880, mpc 2000xl & roland xp 80. I have been recording my sounds thru my 16 channel mixer to my vs 880. But I remember from a studio that used to rob me blind because I did not know how to use the equipment and I could not afford the fee for the in-house producer so I had to pay to learn but when the engineer would record everything, he would hit one button on the computer (after i had programed the beat) and record everything. This is what I want to be able to do. I am running the logic vs program for the 880 on my computer. Can anyone shead some light on this matter for me.

i also have the vs 880,
but i dont use the pc to do any recording ,
i would say hook up everything you have midi, like your
vs 880 to your xp80 to your mpc to your mixer if it has midi then hook it to your computer you would need to figure how to hook it up in a chain with your vs880 being the last in the chain, then hook your vs 880 to your computer if you have a midi hook up. that should be the way you can record with a touch of a button,

i think it depends on your software, on whether or not you can tigger the record .

Thanks for giving me some info, right now I have the computer linked midi with the vs 880 only. then I have the mpc midi with the xp-80 only. I record everything on the vs 880 but i wanted to link the vs 880 to the mpc to the xp-80 and control my recording function with my computer. I dont want to record it into the computer. The software I have is the Emagic logic Vs and it allows me to edit my material thats in the vs 880 on the computer screen but its not in my computer. Is there any formula that I could follow that would allow me to be able to accomplish this. Thanks for your time

hook up the vs880 to the mpc midi go midi out of the VS to the midi in of the mpc, then you can control the mpc with the VS your gonna have to make your setting in the VS , then you have one input left on the mpc you can hook up your xp to the mpc, then you just need to figure out how to hook up your pc to your VS and figure out how to control it that way,

you should just use the edit functions in the VS it's asome you can do some good things with it ,

maybe it's just me , but i rather use my equipment in stead of my computer, i up load my finish songs to my pc and do all the work onn the outside equipment,

I am going to go with the old saying, "If it aint broke dont fix it" I will continue to record my stuff the way I was doing it and adopt your ending once I finish edits and mixing then send it to the computer to burn or upload or what ever has to be done with it. Playing around with it I did figure out how to get the waves on the screen while using the logic Vs program. Everything I record onto the Vs 880 can be edited using the Logic Vs software it does not transfer the audio to the computer but it allows you to copy, paste, move, pan, volume control, auto mix, ect, ect just as you would with the edit button but all those screens when using the edit on the vs 880 gives me a headache so logic vs makes it easy for me.

I got that software Logic Vs it is for use with units Vs880, Vs880 V-xpanded, Vs880 Ex and Vs1680.....So if anybody needs it just let me know and I can send it to you. It is for windows 98 and mac os 8.0
