For the first time in like six years my old OG mpc2000 classic froze on me! Last time I froze it was when I loaded up a kit from a cd rom that filed like almot all the pads, I kept like 8 or 10 of the sounds and unassigned the rest so that I can save memory, and purged the sounds I wasn't using and it froze. I haven't really used cdroms since my first few months with the mpc.
My incident last night, I had some drum sounds loaded up on the pads, midi in and out 1 were to the micron, midi in and out 2 to the ES rack motif, and I had one voice playing on the motif, one voice playing on the micron, each one had it's own dope melody going on, with my drum program in the mpc playing. I had maybe 7 or 8 sounds coming out the mpc at once, and I got 32mb of memory in the mpc. I wasn't feeling my hihat sound so I went into the load screen, to load a different hihat into it so that I can use another one, from my scsi hard drive. After it loaded I hit Play Start on the mpc to play back the sequence to see how it sounds with the new hihat, I heard a buzzing noise in my headphones (connected to my mixer where my mpc, motif ES rack and micron are all connected to...) and the sequence never played and there was a message on the screen that said error and a bunch of numbers inside an oval message bubble in the middle of my screen, the first time ever it froze since like six years ago. I was so mad cause it was 6am, I didn't save anything cauae I NEVER had a problem with freezing or crashing since that sample cd incident, I wanted to throw my mpc out the window, but that would wake everyone in the neighborhood up, and then I'd be assed out of an mpc. Anyhow, I got so mad that I shut everything off and exhausted myself being steamed that I fell asleep. The freeze/crash occured at 4:30am...
