does anybody know how to program those beats where the kick snare and hi hat are a millisecond off? it almost sounds like that they are not quantized.

Play around in step edit, and make the hit a few clocks off.

In all seriousness, this question has been asked a few times. If you search, you will find some helpful tips. I've been playing about trying to emulate that sound, it''s all about practice.

this is prob. the 4th time i've said this in the last two weeks:
Dilla records his drums live in one take.
i.e. he presses record and plays the drums over the beat. thats how he gets the real feel to his drums.
turn quantize/ time correct off if you want the same feel. I never use that shyt as i'm sure many on here don't. Fukk swing settings, swing it manually. Not saying i'm anywhere near j dillas caliber, but try it on a sequence. It'll take a few try's but switch your style up.
