MPC newbie.... How are u saving samples on the Harddrive

are you folks just copying samples/loops straight to the harddrive or will creating folders(snare folder, kick folder, hat folder) on the harddrive work better????

I have to mpc2500 with a 60gb seagate HD and 256mb ram

Can the samples be listed in alphabetical order or are they list in order as placed on the harddrive? When the mpc is connected to my labtop(USB) I can organize the HD like any other computer HD. but when I'm searching through the HD in "Load Mode" via mpc, the files dont show up in order.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong???

saving samples to the drive is completely user preference. it all depends on how you want to be organized. i have separate folders for everything on my 1k'shard drive. kick folder, snare folder, etc...

oh and the 256mb is really 128 to the mpc. so to say you have 256 is somewhat misleading even though we know what you mean (you bought third part ram not the EXM128)

na I do have 256mb (cough, cough 128mb) but any way. I tried the folders but when I'm scrolling for samples in "Load Mode" I dont see the folders under "VIEW:ALL FILES" but the folders will show up under "VIEW:PROGRAMS" but i can't look/search inside the folders. sucks??

Ever tried pressing the "Window" button when in the File field?

Yes Sir. Tried all that stuff

but playing with it this morning. I tried it again. What i was doing wrong was pressing it and not using the up/down/side keys with it. It has a slight delay to move and I wasn't waiting long enough. I hope next O.S. corrects this.

Hm, i never noticed a delay when browsing through the folders. Maybe you have a lot of files in your folders, and it takes a while to read the directory?

Peace,
Stilo.
