in course 1, lesson , he has made a bass line out of the sample. now has he just filtered out the high freq, low end theory style, or has he done something different cos he says that he's "muted" the sample....or is that one in the same thing

I've never seen it... but if I did...I'd make sure to be rude and let you know how late you are with posting it.

yeah he's filtered out the top end of the same sample, and boosted the lows, the confusion arises from the fact that the filmmaker says 'you made the sample muted sounding' or something to that effect, i think he's describing the sound of the filtered sample as complared to the original, rather than a process he put it thru on the mpc.

alright, lets not take it there. the effect is called low pass filter. what that does is, it takes all the highs and mids out of a sound and leaving all the bottoms in there to, in effect, making a bass line out of a regular sample.
Follow me on Twitter @sparq1g I follow back

every tune i make relies on doing that at some point or another....think pete rock was the first to proper use it and give a technical term, altho might b wrong there, and obviously tribe called quest had the album called 'low end theory' which is prob the best example of how to make real good use bass filtering...anyway wasnt too sure if "muting" was something different.
sparq: i take it back, im sorry, cliff richard is a pile of turd....i wont go into detail on how big a turd he is as i will be here all day, but he's the sort of turd that causes u pain after a rather unsatisying curry. ill stop there.
