I've noticed that some wav's that I open allow me to lay the the wav over a range of notes, and other wavs only give the option to assign to one pad. I've taken one of these wavs that are not given an option to lay in a range of notes and saved it off in all wav formats available in cool edit and it still didn't give the option.

I have some samples i need to do this too but am stumped.. How do i make a sample layer in a range of tones over the pads? I let a freind borrow my manuel for the weekend so I can't refer to that if there is an option to do this within the mpc menu's itself.

corny, useless, yet somehow awesome farsical update idea

create "skins" where you can make it look like either an mpc1000 vintage or mpc1000-bk

just kidding. but seriously, do it.

BlueBox will not give the option to apply a sample to a range of pads if it cannot determine the MIDI note assigned to the sample in the WAV header. Not all samples have this stored correctly, and not all samples have this stored period.

The solution would be to edit the sample in some program that can write the MIDI unity note data, but I'm not sure what program(s) exist that would do the trick.

Chur for the program wax but Im havin a problem.

Whenever I record something off a blue box program my mpc plays back the same sample no matter which pads I push. Playing is all good but whenever I play back a recording its not what I just played!

Any ideas what Im doing wrong?

I have this problem also with a large batch. There seems to be no way to find / edit this attribute in Wavelab 5 or Audacity.

Although I might not need it so much with the "16-TUNING mode" mentioned on Akai's MPC 1k FAQ.

...The "16-TUNING mode" does indeed work a treat.

not to sound ungreatful, but what happened to the autochromatic program?

and also

how do you use it?

i used the 2000xl's autochromatic function and was kinda blown away at how much better it sounded then 16 levels

edit

found it in the newer version

but i still dont know how to work it in the same fashon as the 2000xl.
