Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hello,

Does anyone use an internal Jaz with the 2000XL? I have a white one and was thinking of installing it in my MPC as opposed to my ZIP 100 as having all of samples without an external drive would be convinent , plus I use up Zips like TP . Not to mention that I have had 2 Zip Disks go bad on me . I back everything up to my computer once a week so it was not the end of the world, but I use the XL live and not having to hook up an external drive or switch disks live would be great. I do not see a SCSI ID for the drive on the back so would it revert to say 1?

Thanks

Main problem with that would be that the Jaz is a SCSI drive, whereas the mpc only has an internal IDE port.
Not necessarily impossible though. Check out Mikes pages about fitting an internal hard drive http://www.mpc2000xl.com/Internalhd.htm He'll probably know whether it's been done before.

btw. my internal jaz drive is SCSI ID #4
I don't think you can change it.

"whereas the mpc only has an internal IDE port"

Funny, every MPC2000XL I've opened has an internal SCSI port. Maybe yours is special?

I thought that was a SCSI connection inside.... So does anyone use a JAZ inside their 2000xl ?

I don't, but the answer is yes, it can be done..... my advice would be to skip the Jaz drive and install a card reader instead.
