Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I am trying to make a new program so I am loading a lot of my drum sounds onto my XL, I got a message that says "Sound directory Full (256 max" but where it says memory and shows how much is left, I have 16403K left in snd and 2624 left in seq...I've gotten a few error messages in the month or two I been using this, but never on like that. Any help would be great.

ps...Is there any easier way of loading all the sounds on a CF card than just going one by one in the XL and loading them? What I do is I copy all my sounds from my computer to my CF card, than from there to my MPC, but it takes forever. Thanks again. Peace.

Did you have multiple programs loaded in memory at once? Not positive if this is it, but there is a 256 sample limit in memory. This is not noted anywhere in the specs but it is the case (and I believe 128 for the 2000 classic). This has nothing to do with sample size but just number of samples that can be addressed. Its unfortuantely easy to hit this limit when you have a bunch of programs loaded at the same time.

Does anybody know if there is a limit like this on the 1k, 2500 or 4k and if so what it is?

No, I just started my MPC, put in the disc with the sounds on it and started loading them up. I've definately had a lot more sounds loaded before, I dont know why this is happening.

So then just another question...what are the numbers below where it says memory for with the SND: and SEQ: on the loading screen? Because usually when I load samples into my MPC, I can load them until there is no more memory in the SND: and the number there shows it (ie:0) when I loaded them today there was 16403K left showingbut I got that message. Thanks for the replies.

basically the max number of sounds u can have loaded at one time is 256 regardless of how much memory it takes up, so you can either have 32mb of sounds or 256 sounds whichever comes first....someone correct me if im wrong

Guess it is on there for the XL now. I don't know why this isn't listed for the others or if there is a limitation anymore. Was always curious as I hit the limit on the XL often.
