Is there a way I can sync my MPC and VS1680 via MIDI? If so how? Do I slave the 1680 to the MPC or vice versa? If I press play on one will it automatically trigger the other?

I never used the 1680 but i had the 840ex.It's really pretty easy depending on which one you want as the master controller. You have to make sure you're using the right time codes also.Look in your manual and you can find this info easily.

i do it with my 890 and mpc 2000

2000 is the slave for me

I just midi them up so the beat is synched up, in case i wanna change the beat after the lyrics are recorded, or do a remix

make sure your cables are hooked up properly

set both machines to midi time code

match the tempo in your roland to the tempo in your mpc

set a 1 second off set in the roland

now when you press play on the roland, 1 second after pressing that button, both machines will start simutaneously.

thats how i do it though, i dont know what model mpc your on, and i never used a 1680, but i know its very similar to my lil 890. hope this helps. read those manuals too man, thats how i figured it out
