I got you, midi in from the ASR 10 into the MPC midi out either one (1 or 2)
This will allow you to use your ASR 10 to play both its own internal sounds as well as your drum/samples loaded into the MPC. So basically this will make your ASR 10 your Midi controller keyboard. And if you're wondering yes, your MPC is also still your controller you have the option of using either one. And the lovely thing about this set up is provided you have the 71 key or full size 88 keys you don't need to transpose your notes on the MPC. Remember the MPC has 64 pads per bank and depending on how many keys you have the quicker you can run thru your notes.

Now the other lines the midi in from your MPC (A or B) I'd say (A) because this is your only midi connection right now and you wouldn't have to scroll thru the (A) bank to get to the (B) bank. So go Midi In A from the MPC into the Midi out on the ASR 10. This allows for the MPC to controll the ASR 10 as well as recieve it's midi messages.

Having said all that congradulations and Get'ta Crackin'!

Not necessarily, I mean you could use the floppy drive on there. If I'm not mistaken the ASR has one correct? Beside You can label your tracks on the Mpc to aid you in your set up if necessary. The only thing you would probably need to save from the ASR would probably be your effects reverb, chorus, delay etc;. I don't know how to save the MIDI messages on the MPC yet. That would be one of the things that no matter how many times it's posted here I just can never repeat the process. Go figure! However, you may be intrested in using this method which I would suggest even though I can't do it right you could do a search here and get the 411. Using that technique you could recall all of your settings without having to reprogram everything everytime you power up. I believe it would come up under Midi exclusives.

sup blaze, the thing is i got everything hooked. i just don't know what to do from there. like in the shift-midi/sync menu. i have no clue what to do to make the midi work with the asr or the mpc. and i know its in the manual but i don't know where the manual is. the only thing i know how to do is make beats and sequence my tracks. anything more than that just has me lost.

You don't need that right now. The most important thing that you need right now is to know how to assign you midi channels on the ASR 10.

You don't need that right now. At least not for what you're trying to do. The most omportant thing that you need right now is to know how to assign you midi channels on the ASR 10.

Look under free sounds and it would be at the bottom of the page if it is. Just checked it is. They even have one for the MPC series to. I myself don't know how to do the internal midi settings on the keyboard and my friend is out of town.

But yeah as far as your tracks to record your midi sounds and not change when you go to another track you need to make sure that you change the midi channel as well. Example : 1A Synth, 2A koto, 3A bass line and etc; And label the tracks in your track info window. That way until you learn how to save your midi messages in your sequences you'll always have a visual guide to help you edit and arrange your songs.

Nope, atleast I don't think so. MPC 3000 or the Tutor might be able to answer that question for you. Did you ever download that manual? I'm sure that it will have a contact number in there or try their website. That way you can order the scsi interface board directly from them. Not using your scsi on the MPC? You will need the scsi on your MPC trust me. Wether to run a zip drive, an external hard drive, or cd rom drive. Hold on to your scsi board for your MPC. Once you get your scsi for your ASR 10 you could always chain them together and save information from both units.
