Pad Bank Problem

hey gang ! had anyone experienced a problem with there pad banks

switching when they tap on there drum pads?

For some reason when i tap on some of my drum pads

the pad banks change from A to C. Or D etc. When I also press on the

record and play buttons and play some notes then try to stop it. It

continues to record. Any advice ? or similar problems? i reloaded to OS

but still same problem. You think it may be a short?

so when you hit certain drum pads the PAD BANK switches back and forth?

yeah when i hit pads in general it does that. i actually rebooted like 3 times. I also opened it up to see if anything as loose but everything was good. so i closed it up and havent had a problem yet. i'll keep u guys posted

well, the problem i had was that the 16 pads are were screwed down too tight. there are 4 screws that secure the whole pad assembly in the mpc. i believe the upper right screw was tightened too tight. when i would hit the pads this screw would come in contact with other components in the mpc. my mpc would short out, do weird stuff, and most times reboot. evntually it rebooted one too many times and it would never boot up again. when i finally took it apart too look inside i could see where the screw was making contact and parts of the circuitboard slightly melted/burned from the contact.

it sucked.

long story short, open up your mpc and loosen the screws on the pad assembly. they should still be tight and secure, but you want to avoid overtightening which was my scenario.
