Boo to anyone that steals records. You're either stealing from someone trying to make an honest living, or stealing from a charity. On top of that, you're stealing a record that someone probably would be willing to pay for.

Anyone wondering why the prices go up (for records and everything else), it's partly because they have to account for thieves.

But karma is a muhfukka. You all will be the ones to have records damaged in a fire, flood, car trunk, but a little brother, ect. Or maybe someone will break into your home/business and steal from you. Or maybe you'll take a nice ass whoopin' from a store owner. Or you'll make the hotest beat every and your computer will crash.

I dont mind stealing records from b itch ass dealers who jack up the price according to what its going for on ebay, or when they pump up the prices more than 1000% just because pete rock or el-p or dj shadow sampled it....Its sad to think that more dealers are shady because instead of providing the music community with good music they are providing head aches because we cant afford to buy a dollor record for 300+ dollors because someone in the game sampled it.......you call those shady dealers trying to make an honest living??? I dont think so.....most dealers wouldnt know what to get if it wasnt for us diggers or music lovers or what ever the **** you wanna call yourself....thats why i dont mind stealing on certain situations.......i got my validations and my excusing but besides that they are always trying to scam us.....honest living my anus....

It's called market value. Businessmen sell items for what the market will pay. If there are people willing to over pay just because DJ Shadow sampled a record, that's on them. Why do you blame the seller? Blame the folks willing to pay those prices.

With this theory, it's OK to steal anything we can't afford. There are clothes that cost as much as they do only because of the namebrand. Sneakers that cost as much as they do only because of the athlete that endorses them.

solah wrote:you call those shady dealers trying to make an honest living??? I dont think so.....
Yes. They're not breaking any laws, and they're not forcing you to buy the music. It's capitalism. Record dealers are in business to make money, not to sell you things at prices YOU think are fair. Remember, $300 records are not a necessity. You don't need them to live. If you're uncomfortable with the price, put it down and walk away.

You call yourself a digger, right? Go find that $300 record in a dollar bin somewhere. Leave the $300 records for those willing to pay for a DJ Shadow sample.

Let's see how you feel when you're on the other side of it. Let's see if you'd be willing to sell something for $1 when there are people willing to pay $50. That type of businessman is out of business in a month.

man don't steal records b, that's the kind of thing that makes us look bad plus if you still do it, ten years from now there will be lesser and lesser vynil dealers

Study up. Part of the price of most things - clothes, sneakers, music, ect. - are anticipated loses from theft.

I'm not saying it's the primary reason. Of course, record cost are based primarily on rarity and who sampled it.

If it's really about the music, then stop looking at the $300 record and walk over to Tower and buy the CD for $14.99.

If I could sell all of my vinyl for $100 each, then damn right I would. It's called business.

Like Bezo kinda alluded to, people will pay $150 for a pair of sneakers that cost $10 to manufacture, but then have issues with paying $150 for a rare record? (if it wasn't rare to some extent, you would find somewhere it for cheaper, right?) Fuzzy logic there.

I guess when people start jacking your beats, it's cool because (they think) you probably were trying to jack the prices up on cats.

I'm a grown man, and I have too many (positive) things going on to jeapardize what I've done so far for stealing a record.

Like I said before, thievery is just plain dishonest and juvenile.
