Timestretch Instability ?

the 1k and 2k are so closely related architecture wise im sure they share much of the same code base so i guess it'll be a simultaneous release, or very closely spaced at least.

Possibly...but it was clearly stated on Akai Japan's site that the new OS for the 1000 will not be available for download soon. But the OS for the 2500 is suppose to be coming soon....but I am getting tired of holding my breath.

Just returned for Guitar Center..bought my daughter one of those Electric Guitar Packages for Christmas (I wish my parnets were like me when I was growing up).....

Anyway, I attemtped to crash their MPC 2500 on display with this timestretch 'bug'. Yup...produced the 'bug'/garbled screen first time out. I left it in that state just for for laughs

There is obviously some differences in the OS of the MPC 1000 vs the MPC 25000. If I was still slingin MPC 2500s (or any MPC for that matter), I would have given you an MPC 2500 for Christmas since you want one so bad

You know what dawg? I wish my folks was like me too. I bought both my boys guitars last year and this year, i'm buyin them both amps. I guess I cant complain though. My mom did what she could while my step dad did everything he could get his hands on (weed, coke, crack etc...). I live a much better life nowadays and I share this love of music with my kids. And even if I never go platinum... at least I know that my kids have an earlier start on the game than I did. They inherit ALL of this whenever they want it!!!

You're right there's a difference in the OS - his timestretch works, yours doesn't. So i don't think he wants your 2500 (with 2 functioning midi outs) right now

2500s users will have to just deal with the timestretch issues, which so far as I can see, is for very small samples.

I still have 2 working MIDI outs. I guess I will have my delayed gratification when the other two work properly.

As far as the MPC 1000...it just goes to show that you can't trouble shoot the MPC 2500 using the MPC 1000 (especially with a beta OS 1.9666 or something ).

Even with these problems, I would still not purchase an MPC 1000 unless it was for the kids....I can't get them an X-Box 360 so that might be the perfect gift

Keep beta testing the 2500, so by the time we upgrade from our 'kiddy' 1k to the 'teenage' 2500 it's all working bug free

Somebody has to do it....since the clowns that did it the first time couldn't get it right. And if they are in the forums listening...I don't care if they are offended. There are just some things that are impossible to miss if they actually used the MPC when the OS was beta tested.

However, since I mainly sample drums and sequence keyboards, my only real complaint is the MIDI OUT bugs.

Hey jahrome, I am really getting frustrated with my MIDI problem. I bought the MPC so that I could work MORE efficently with the rest of my gear, but I find myself working LESS efficently. NEED HELP BADLY!

Have you tried turning the Mixer setting ON in the Fantom?

who says i'm still using v1.99033? who's to say that i don't already have a full blown official 2.0?

Just above the data wheel on the Fantom, there is a Perfromance and Patch section. Press the Mixer button in the Performance section. Here you can assign instruments/patches to each of the Fantoms 16 MIDI channels.

On your MPC, you can assin these instruments/patches to each track. When the Program Change function is on, the MPC can select the patches. When it is turned off, the Fantom retains control.

Yeah, I always play in mixer mode, I thought you were talking about a different setting.

Tech support from roland was no help at all yesterday.

Whatever you are using.....if it is not an MPC 2500 with OS 1.00b, its silly to attempt to give technical support to 2500 users based on it. Posting that you have no problems time stretching with the MPC 1000V2 has nothing to do with the 2500..as you can plainly read. Time stretching in the 2500 does have a 'bug'. This is confirmed in MPC 2500s bought in the USA and Japan..using 16MB or Akais 128MB of memory.
