yo can you guys please point me in the direction of which store i can buy the 2000xl the cheapest, because 1699 is a little to much for me right now. i could get the 1000 but the new os isn't seeming to drop too soon so i'll probally roll with the xl. ebay not an option.

is the xl real slow, i've been hearing that it's super slow compared to the 1k.

Not sure about stores in the US. But i always read about Guitar Centre. You can always bargain with them. No advertised price is their final price.

You might want to consider giving more thought to why you want the XL over the 1K. Because if there's no real strong point other than the fact that the new OS for the 1K hasn't been released yet, then maybe hold out until it finally drops. For me personally, I don't like using the 1K after owning my XL for 18 months. But you get used to what you use, and with the new Os for the 1000, it can be a tough decision for those who are buying their first MPC and don't have any experience using one.

CO-SIGN, I WOULD CHOOSE THE MPC2KXL ANY DAY OVER THE MPC1000.

As you're in the 2kxl forum, i think most people will advise you to take the 2kxl.
I would too though, the slowness only affects time stretching, the workflow is quicker as you have more dedicated buttons on the xl than on the 1k (like a 60/3000 to an xl).
USB connectivity is the only real advantage, the 2k beats the 1000 in any other category.
Do get the card reader though.

At this point I'd get a 1000 or wait for a 2500. I had a 2kxl and the 2kxl is dope no question. But for me personally, I find the 1000 easier to work with. I chop on the PC, save to compcat flash card and keep it movin'. You know? I like that I can save the whole memory in a project and autoload. Obviously, each MPC has its own strengths and weaknesses so, I gues u just gotta determine what YOU would use it for.

i would get the 1000.

its a great introduction into hardware samplers. very simple to learn.

and if youre are pc type dude, the 1k would also enhance your workflow if you are using a pc in your production.

spending 1700 for an xl is crazy. i would just save 300 more and cop the 2500.

i paid $2099 for mine included the 8 outs digi in/out, eb 16 effects.

i had $2000 in my account the m in F in bastards would not finance me on $200 i had to go back in two weeks after i got paid again.

you want a Brand NEW MPC you gotta pay $1699 comes with a card reader though.

Its kinda strange because back in yr 1999-2000 you could buy the basic model w floppy drive for $1299. Now for a blue case and a $20 card reader they charge $400 more.
