Muting Events

Is there any way to partially mute an event? I've tryed mute groups but the sample stays off after the mute is triggered. I've also tryed to erase portions of a sample in a sequence and that doesnt seem to work either. Is there any way to bring the event back in after its been muted? I'm basically asking if you can mute in the middle or beginning of an event or sample and still have the end of the sample kick in. This may sound confusing, but any help is appreciated.

i have to look to see exactly but in the meantime, here's a work around:

say you have a 10 second sample. and in some instances you want the whole sample to play and in some instances you want the firs 3 seconds and the last 4 seconds to play just cut up that 10 second sample to and use three different versions of the sample. a 10 second (original) a 3 second (first 3 seconds of sample) and a 4 second (last 4 seconds of sample) and then program that in your song the way that you want it.

can't you silence a portion of a sample in the TRIM mode; or is that just on the 2000xl?

or u could just use note off

os2 has silence mode if im not mistaken....and by the looks its a bout 3 week wait (16th jan is when the new site will be launched, we might even get it before then). before then i guess slicing is the best option.

yeah but with note off, when you hit the pad again the sample will start from the begining. I think he wanted to start the sample, mute the middle and then have the tail end of the sample play normally. So, I guess slicing is the way to do it.

Maybe I misread the question. If u want the begging of the sample muted and the end to kick in all u need to do is, Mess with the attack of the sample in the program screen. If u want the end to fade out u can make the pad note off or you can mess around with the decay. if u want the middle silenced and the sample to kick back in, all u gotta do is go into the trim screen and pick what section u want silenced with the begining and end points than hit edit and chop the middle of the sample out.

why do you people resist chopping your samples so damn hard? if you chop each note specifically into its own file you don't have to worry about stuff like this

not with 1k's OS 1.07 but with 2.0 you can do just that.

I'm feelin what people are sayin about chopping, but I think the 1000 needs partial mutes or whatever you wanna call it. I think this would be easier than having a million chopped up samples taking up pads and memory. I guess once I get the hard drive I wont have to worry about memory. I'm workin with a 512mb flash card right now and I dont like filling it with unnecessary samples. I really have learned a lot from these forums. Props goes out to everyone who contributes.
