Someone straighten this out for me please?

ive messed around with my mpc making kits for it from wavs and stuff but never been able to move anything to computer yet because the floppies too small..
if i got a soundcard with midi in/out could i use the midi from my computer to send sounds to the pads? im thinking to up the wavs quality
make the sounds 1mb give or take a few KB instead of like 16 kb ive been using on floppy
which means at least 16 mb of the 32mb my mpc has
which is fine. usually i pick which sounds i want in advance anyways....
but once this is done can i play the sequence and record through midi out into my pc? or will i have to put the sequence on flopppy??
seriously they should come out with a removable hardrive for the MPC...it would sell truckloads

First things first convert your samples to mono this will cut your samples in half immediately. and as long as your samples are under 1420k you won't have a problem. And yes this can be a long process! Even more importantly make sure that your sample names are 8 characters long or less and that includes spaces.

but how does midi work?
ive never used midi before and the soundcard i might get for christmas,
(m-audio audiophile 2496) has midi in/out.
i am thinking this will let the pc be the music storage (it already has tons of wavs and almost all my sounds come from the pc right now albeit on floppies...) or meaning i want CWBLL1 to goto pad 1 on the MPC can i send it via midi from the pc to the akai pad 1?
then i can fill the akai with sounds from midi and make a song. (then record to minidisc and put the song onto my computer by recording it with soundcard...)
will that work? can i send sample to the akai from my computer?

Midi is a control protocol. I contains no music what so ever. Its the biggest strong points of the mpc, Midi Production Center.[/b]

No audio travels through MIDI cables.. MIDI is the not the connection for transfer of samples you are thinking and wanting, Triplegreen hit that nail on the head....

Convert samples to mono in the PC using a batch processer and it will be very quick..

If you plan to use that floppy with PC and MPC then format the floppy in PC using 16bit FAT, use only 8 character filenames like Blaz4me said.

Get an internal or external ZIP and it will server you better than floppy.

I keep my sounds on PC as well and I tranfer with ZIP from PC to MPC and back easily.. Make copies on CD just in case something goes wrong, I can't stress this enough!! Starting from scratch all over again WILL happen if you don't prepare and take actions on it now..

there is a way to transfer samples and sequences over midi: its just real fcuking slow and inconvient.

sequences should be small enough to fit on a floppy but concievably, if you slaved your mpc to your computer you could record up to sixteen tracks of midi: from main menu, curser down to the line that says Drum: Off. Highlight "Off" and hit open menu. Now hit f2 which is "Rec 16" this'll open a new screen called Record ALL Sixteen channels. Hit proceed. Now play your 16 track sequence from the computer and it should record it to tracks 1-16.

As for sounds... my mpc 2000 supports something called midi sample dump. never used it, but yours should have something like it. i guess its real slow but it works. you'd probably have to have some sort of program on your computer to dump the samples from that supports this midi dump standard, so in the long run you might just be better off with a zip.

Directions for this: from main screen hit shift + 9. Now hit f2 "DUMP." From this screen the MPC will recieve samples dumped from your computer. (of course you have figure out how to make your computer send them. can't help you here man, you're on your own).
now wait and wait and wait and wait... and eventually the sample should pop up on you mpc.
