Drum Roll pitchin????

I've got a a quick question about drum rolls? what are some of the pitch level and tempo's that some of you use when makin a nice sound drum Roll! The problem that I'm havin is that its just not sounding the way I want it to sound like for example how the heatmakers tom drum rolls are crisp and smooth and blend in good with the track and mine seem like I just filled the squares on Fruity LOops when I'm using a mpc 4000..... Just wanted to get some input on that to see if I'm pitchin and settin the tempo right, so then I'll know whether or not its that or I'm basically just using the wrong type of sound 4 the roll!

If u trying to do a heatmakers type drum roll thiers is pretty basic. ie thier swing is always at 50% on their toms. If u want to do a dope tom roll swing at like 63% and turn full level off. Roll your finger around the pad while note repeat is on and voila!

But be specific do u want a drum roll like a snare roll or just those heatmakers toms

I'm feelin tha tom roll that heatmakerz do I'm mean I'm not tryin to be a copykat producer or no sh*t like that but I think tha drum roll sound is a very good sound to have in your arsenal.. If you got a tip or good way on how do to do a bangin snare roll I woudln't mind hearin about that 2?

For the best results record it with quantise OFF than go into step edit and move the notes around and mess with the decay and attack of each as well as the velocity. I usually turn full level off when doing this first so thiers not to much u need to do to the velocity. PM TICTOC, he's nice as shyt at drum rolls

assigning the samples to more than one pad helps too. Like if you have the snare on 2 pads and you use 2 fingers or both your hands you can get a faster roll.

A real drummer uses both sticks to get the fast 16th and 32nds alternating between each stick.
