Ok so far i have...

Mpc 2000 xl
keyboard (simple little midi controller)
Soundblaster audgy platinum pro advanced soundcard
MXL Condenser mic

I have'nt hooked my new soundcard up but with my old oone when i hooked up my mpc to my computers line in output and tried to record my beats it would make them all distorted nasty....What do I need? Im gonna get a mixer for my birthday what would yall suggest...and do i need a amp? I also dont have an 8 out board but im thinking about getting one soon....thanks yall

That aint a bad start. Depending on what level you are at with your MPC, I'd say practice and learn how it works using samples.

As far as recording directly into your PC's soundcard from the MPC, without a mixer you have less sound quality control but in your case, i think your sound card probably wasn't up to it. The Audigy isnt really the best but it'l do.

If your going to get into using your PC as a Hard disk recorder you dont need a mixer just yet (You dont have any other midi gear do you?)

the audigy was probably set to mic or just way too loud. Use your PC's mixer to lower the level.
