..The Just Blaze Joint

Hey I checked out that Video Joint on "Just Blaze". Does anybody know the name of that Vinyl he was using when he was demo'ing how he makes beats? Also where can you get Break Beat Records like that he was using with various 1 liners and convos...Horns...Those Drums he had in his 4k were Ill as H3LL!...This may have been asked before but i am doing this quickly as I am at work and shouldn't be in here. I appreciate the knowledge in here and you guys know stuff that Ain't in a dang gone manual mayng! <---Boomhauer impression.

i dunno bout that record that he was using for the beat, but the other records are battle or break/scratch records for djs. There good to have around. They have like scratch sentances that just have vocal and scratch snippets laid up so a dj can cut them up. Phrases like "Fressshhh" or "BEEP" shit like that.

theres like five pages of them on there ranging from just straight beats to full on dj records. listen to the audio snippets.

Those drums blaze rocks are called breakbeats. You get those from wax. Like old songs. Like Take the money and run by steve miller band. that intro is a breakbeat. Just the stripped down drums rocking out. Most people like myself chop these up and make kits with them. But they are on alot of sample cds and are easy to procure.

that is a dope cd with alot of the classic breakbeats. click the pads to hear some breaks. Its fun to find your own, but i use breaks from wax, mp3s, sample cds, anywhere i can get them. If there open drums, im stealin em. I just wont sample break/dj records like mentioned above for drums, or current hip hop tracks. Just against my sampling etiquette. This doesnt mean u cant its just something that i personally dont do and frown upon.

I will definately go diggin. I got mad Vinyl from my Pops from back in the day. My mother too who taught music (Chorus) for 30 years. I got alot of their records but that ish is so Old and Bland...Stuff like Miles Davis~"Sketches of Pain", Bitches brew, Old as hell trumpet Jazz stuff that sounds like a band warming up. Some of them have some snipets that could be used but I got a Ton of that old ass Stuff. Alot of 45's.
3 milk crates of old a$$ records and I have been through 98% of them looking for stuff and only found about 10% of them useful. I did find my old Sugar hill albums, Hashim, Captani Sky, Skyy, Slave, Bohannon.
I want better "Old" sh!t noemsayin? But good lookin out dawg, I can probably download alot of stuff, I would like to go to an old record store where I can listen to the Vinyl before I buy it.

dude you must be a newbie cause that miles stuff is ill and rare and very expensive , you need to do some HOMEWORK, and those funk records you just listed man , you slippin. that 's some great stuff, sure theres not alot of breaks on them, but if you learn to chop and use your equipment you can get some nice kits from that stuff.

have you even listen to those records or is it just you seen them , and recognized the group and figured it has been used before. i guarentee you most of the breaks if not all the breaks you find will have been used in one way or another,

I know you want it!!...I have listened to most of it. Mostly the intros.
As far as beeing a Newbie, Yes and No. I am sort of a Newbie when it comes to chopping up stuff. I used to just sample a Break or take what I needed out of a record. Same diff. I guess after you listen to that stuff so much it gets kinda boring since I remember getting my diaper changed with JAZZ playing in the Background...and I grew up on the stuff. I won't date myself and reveal my age but I will say I was around when the Original Kats dropped their Science....I ain't talkin bout SugarHill either.
I remember being dropped at Grade school With "Last Poets" being the last thing on my mind when I got out the car. That to me is when RAP started..
But I know many other kats probably feel different. Hey, but if you look at it, Way back when all the Country Kats used to tell stories...They were rapping too and didn't realize it. Go figure.

I will provide a list of Vinyl I have and possibly maybe burn a CD or something for those who want it.
But I have the stuff, and may possibly sell some of it. Stryke, you might be in luck. I'll let you know. Beside I have to clear it Moms too. I got this stuff out of her basement. I got some Elvis, Barber shop quartet stuff, (This came from my other Grandmother who was from Tennesee) Old as Hell I say!!

Now my brother on the other hand...Won't let me TOUCH his records. He has gotten sh!t from Storage facility auctions where the people don't Pay for their storage unit and they auction off the stuff in there??? Maaaan, He picked up 2 cardboard boxes about the size of a large microwave FULL of Sh!t! I'm talkin Parliament, Bootsy, Donald Byrd, Roy Ayers, Delegation,
Peabo, Teddy, A bunch of Soul Compilation records, Sam Cook,Brothers johson, Isley brothers, Quazar, Mandrill, Mandre 3000, and a bunch or MuhF*ckas I can't remember. O...I can't even get him to let me burn a Damn CD from the sh!t....He's an EBAY Guru holdin on to stuff. Hes like thats his insurance policy when loot gets low.
He has enough sh!t at his house to retire and just do EBAY...Mostly Old Antique stuff and Motorcycle parts...but he has a Ton of Records me might sell....Notice I said SELL...He will let me listen to them at HIS HOUSE though...Dang!

the stuff might be old and you prolly heard it to the point you can hear it aymore but, me too as a kid i use to hear stuff that my parents play'd as i was a kid, and i am now tryin to find it, just dont listen to it a while and it will grow on you . i'm not surre how old you actually are but the Last Poets is from the 60's so you must kno some of your shizz,

Word...I been down south most of my life but I remember the sound of ships coming through the Harbor early in the morning, and being able to see Coney Island Amusement park from my living room window on the 5th floor in New York. We, along with my Daddys Jazz records, moved to North Caddillacky when I was 4 or 5 years old. Can't say I miss the place but I do miss the Graffitti...I love that Sh!t...

you know BM i feel ya on not liking the stuff you got but i was raised around music too and all the Sh!t mom and pops played that i hated as a child is the same stuff i'm stealing when i go visit but to each his own Hutch....
