it will be out. keep the HDM10 and the hard drive. you can use 2gb of your hard drive as it is which is more than a CF card can hold (unless you have the 2gb CF card) it's not the end of the world. you and everyone else will 2.0 soon enough. just have to wait a little bit more.

I'd be pretty seriously upset had I bought the HD adapter kit (30 $) and a 120$ hard drive and be able to use only 2 gigs on it.
A 2 gig CF card is about 100 Euro...

This: "OS 2 will be out (but nobody knows when)" is becoming very annoying.

I think it's legitimate that ppl are pissed at Sparq, and at anyone who's telling them to stop whining.
What does it mean? this guy knows the OS2 inside out, has relationship with Akai ppl but the only one thing he don't know is WHEN the OS will come out?

As for using the 1k with the old OS, yes it can be done, and I do it. But I remeber when I started using the 1k out of the box I was shocked at the realisation that a number of features I thought would be there were actually not (i.e. batch edit of velocity in tracks, CC/PB generation using sliders, and one crazy feature: PAD midi note cannot be set to anything lower than #37???!). And these features were advertised in the promotional materioal I has acces to where its said that the 1k had a fiull blown sequencer as the 2k (while in fact a lot of functions of the 2K sequencer are indeed missing, and I dont even talk about DSP aspects).

Apparently OS2 shall overcome most of these limitations. It's been a long wait already. How much longer shall we wait?

Initially we thougt the wait was due to debugging the SW, but now we know OS2 is available and running on the 1KbK... so what's up exactly? Logic would want that a release date is announced. Until then everybody will stay angry and will direct their anger at Sparq at the first occasion.

i agree with most of what you've said, but don't lash out at sparq man, he doesn't get paid to share the info he has, he doesn't work for akai, is he their **** spokesperson or something? no he isn't.
If you're going to be angry at anyone, be angry at akai.

I lurk here a lot, and rarely post, but this thread has forced my hand. So I just read all 140 posts of this thing in the past day. It went from very informative to a lot of whining. Yes, we are all looking forward to the new OS. However, a lot of you are acting like spoiled brats. It reminds me of being unable to fall asleep as a kid on Christmas Eve, so excited that my presents would be here any minute. Just chill, smoke some j's, and before you know it the new OS will be here. Complaining is not going to change a thing. Sparq: I appreciate all you have done and all you have put up with. Akai: Thanks for the new OS, sure I'd like to have it now, but I'm thankful enough just to know that eventually I will have it, I understand you're a business, not a charity.

Now in reading those 140 pages, I only have one question remaining. I didn't see it answered in that space, but if it was I apologize. Anyway, my question: If I install the Hard Drive under OS 1.07 I understand it will only recognize 2GB. However, when I install OS 2.00, will it suddenly recognize the full disk, or will I need to format again?

i believe sparq said it automatically recognised the whole thing, ie no need to re-format!! s'ok easy to miss that in amongst all the whinig!

thanks for the appreciation. Mr modnaR answered right. you do not have to reformat the drive. so you can load up on the 2gb and then install 2.0 without the thoughts of losing anything or reformatting.
