Anyone ever broke the data wheel?

If there's one thing id like to change on my mpc its gotta be this damn data wheel

feels so sketchy, so plastic...

do you know if it is possible to replace it?

Yep, some guy on these forums a while back even swapped his for a metal wheel from an old pioneer VCR or tape player. It was quite cool.

i'd appreciate some good soft and solid gum-like wheel

yeah i rembember seeing something like this

but it didnt look very aesthetic to me

if you could get a gum like wheel going stable, it would probably be kind of hot. then you have to match the rec gain and main vol. wheels too.

i think it just pulls off, but check with someone who has done it before on that, as i'm not certain!

you have to take off the metal face plate.

its a couple of screws, onces its off, the dial comes off easily.

Thats odd because everytime I use the data wheel just about it jumps and skips. When I point to a program it will skip from program three to one then to two to one.
