My floppy drive won't read certain .wav files. I don't know if this would make a difference but the MPC that I have had a Zip drive installed on it from the factory and then this guy replaced it with a floppy when he sold it to me.

So here is what I did to try to get it to work:

I made a sample ran it thru Recycle 2.0 and copied to a floppy on my computer and loaded it to the MPC and it works fine.
Then I took a drum kit ran it thru Recycle 2.0 loaded it to a floppy disk and loaded it to the MPC and it says "UNKNOWN FILE TYPE" it shows that the file has O kb. When I know it loaded to the floppy disk cause it plays on my computer thru Windows Media Player.

The reason I ran the files thru Recycle 2.0 was because I thought this might make it work because the sample loaded on to the MPC fine but the drum kit did not load fine.

Any help would be appreciated!

prob is w/ your format of the file, NOT the floppy. Floppies don't give a damn what you put on it, but your mpc DOES care what you feed it. in recycle, save your samples as 44khz/16bit wav. you should have no problems with the file loading in an mpc after that.

the book tells you what files are recommended.
get at the manual.

I did do that and it still does not work.

Last night we tried to load the new OS 1.20 and it erased the OS program from my MPC.

what mpc do you have?

2kxl, load 1.14 and stay w/ that.
2k, load 1.72 and stay with that.

Why stay with 1.14 for the XL? I've got a zip drive in mine and I use 1.20. Bad thing?

1.20 is not a bda thing but it's been known to crash an mpc or 2.

I believe it was made cf cards bigger than 1gb. I tried it back when I had my internal 250zip on my 2kxl. It crashed my mpc and I couldn't do anything. I installed my floppy again and installed 1.14, then I turned around and re-installed my 250zip. Now I am rollin with internal cf drive, my card id 512 so I have no need for 1.20 until I get a bigger card.

But MANY people have complained here on the boards about 1.20 crashing their mpc's and it's happened to me also.
