editing samples...

does anyone think that the features on the current os for the 2500 blow ass... i just got it and am dissapointed by the sample editing features chop shop blows in my opinion and id rather just do all the work on the pc... but it shouldnt be that way after i shelled out all this cash for this new box... other than that its dope

doesn't it still have zoning where you can chop manually.

it's always a good idea to try out gear before you buy it.
i perfer editing my samples on the 2500 versus my pc.
pc's slow me down, but that's just me.
dig into the manual, it's your friend.
i'll go ahead and be the devil's advocate and say that you'd probably be better off sticking to what you were doing before you bought the 2500.
sell it and get more software stuff.

like dude said earlier if the pc is ur thing that might be ur best bet

what are your specific gripes?

You can edit samples quickly with the MPC 2500 but I didn't know that until I read the manual and realized how to leverage its features to their full potential.

For example.. you can use the q-link to chop a sample versus the data wheel which can take forever.

Although the q-link sliders can be used to quickly edit samples...the data wheel doesn't have to take a long time. You have to use it with the cursor keys.

I think u should be able to use the q-link when adjustin the start and end points after you have used chop shop and before you slice them or patch phrase the samples. (at least i think this where u can't use them)

hmm, if I use the shift + cursor key with the data wheel it adjusts the brightness of my screen

highlight the start or endpoint #s

hold shift then press the left cursor key

now when u use the data wheel it allows u to move in larger increments

that should do the trick

u can also edit the start and endpoints by holding the after key and sliding the q-link

Oh yeah, I've got that one (rtfm'd it), where you can select the increment you want it to go up by depending on which figure on the start/end point you select, just if I hold shift and any key with the data wheel it does the brightness, which I'm guessing is what it should do. What I wish is that the brightness setting could be under one of the pad menus or something

naw i never have only used pc... but i just think that chop shop is slow and innaccurate.. for me at least... i read the manual and use the sliders... but in cool edit you cant just highlight and cut and paste so much faster and then dump the chopped shit into your mpc in half the time it takes to do all the nonsense with the mpc..

it might not be the best but it'll get the job done with the right settings

or u could always manually chop

It might seem bad at first but u gotta know ur settings to choose just like recycle or cool edit (if it has an auto chop feature)


the beauty of the mpc is all u gotta do go to the trim screen to edit samples

to adjust samples with the pc dont u have to go back into cool edit or whatever adjust then re dump all the new files back into the mpc?

First..you have to actually learn how to use the MPC 2500 and know its limitations. The Chop Shop feature is not slow. It is as accurate as the settings you use. But its only meant to chop smaller samples. It can only chop a sample into 64 parts. Long samples will not be accurate.
