adding scratches???

Can someone give me some insight as to how I sequence in scratches to my xl while listening to my samples so I can stay on point? I have tried to run my mixer into my beringer feedback destroyer pro and run the midi cable from the midi out on that into the midi input on my xl. As far as how to sequence in midi tracks I went step by step with what the manual told me. I went to an empty track moved the cursor to track type and selected midi. I then hit record and play and went at it. As I was scratching I could hear what I was doing but when the sequence looped they couldn't be heard. Any insight would be appriciated or if you don't want to get into it I would be happy with a url of where I could find this info.

I know they aren't but I was trying to get him to find that answer
to his own predicament.

answer, use external recorder on mixer outs

the only thing i can say is to finish your beat or whatever your working on and when your done put it on your recorder or whatever you use to record on. then make another track for real time scraching.

I scratch into Cubase when the track is laid down. Get your track done first. It sucks for me cos I used to just use Cubase and sometimes you just wanna get that scratch in that you found by accident on the vinyl you're sampling and you can't play and record on the MPC2000XL You could sample the scratches into your external recorder (or soundforge whatever) and then load them up into the MPC if they MUST be on there.

Hi, I first record the beat on md, play it on my headphones or monitor, than record my scratches on my mpc. Always works out.

akai should sort this out before they discontinue it

or u could sell the 2000xl and get a 1000, 2500, or 4000 which allows u to record directly to track while listening to ur sequence

its a more expensive route

First off there is a lot of talent coming out of Portland, Maine right now and being from Maine has nothing to do with the music I make. Now that I've said that forgive my lack of knowledge in midi for it is a whole new realm of making music for me. I appriciate the feedback minus the quoted comment. I'll definatley be hooking up my tape deck today to add them. I've had my mpc less than a month so I still got a lot of learning to do on it.

Yeah I know very litttle about midi but go check out tweakheadz.com if anyone is looking for more info on it. I just found the sight and have a lot of reading to do but there's a ton of info about recording there. Yeah midiot is a dope term, Lamp. And as far as getting a 4k, I feel extremely lucky I got my xl considering my families financial situation. Three year olds aren't cheap lol. My son can scratch nice for his age though.
