at what stage is it safe to turn the MPC off??

When you are in main screen mode?

Obviously it wouldn't be when the disk is in operation

i've never had a problem turning it off (insert joke here) even when disks were running or whatever. thats one of the reasons you use the mpc: so you don't have to deal with worrying about that kind of thing (for the most part).

Do all your saves ie..
ALL, PGM, APS, MID or whatever else it is you save to disk.
Then turn it off..
