QUOTE BY PETE ROCK
" I started out with the 60 and learned how to finagle that,"Rock recalls," and I went straight from that to the 2000XL and the 3000. The 2000XL is what I like working now, but I'm definitely desperate to get ahold of the new 2500 and see what that's about"

The XL SE that he has in the video is the one I let go a few months ago. My unit had the internal zip drive...I miss my baby....in fact, I miss zip drives..to hell with a flash card

Thanks for the post it just goes to show that the man not the gear is what makes great music. I love what he does with the Pat Benetar song.

hold up! he went straight from the 60 to 2000xl? anyone familiar with pete rock's history knows he where using a sp1200 before the mpc2000xl.

that article must have left out something from what pete where saying.
or is it the same pete rock? pete rock mk2?

Producers use all kinds of tools...yes some of them use both an SP and an MP.

Before these forums were here (heck...before the internet as we know it today)...Pete was rocking an SP and an older Akai sampler, which he proudly displayed on the back of an earlier album. This was in the early 90s. During then and know...he probably...may have went back and forth from the SP to an MPC 60. Over the past 2 years (actually 1 year as far as magazines/advertisements go) he started reppin the MPC 2000XL...which makes his style of music easier to create than an SP or MPC 60. I guess now he is using the XL exlusively (probably getting paid as well)...wouldn't doubt he still has his other toys.......

Why I bother to post in this thread?? because I have nothing better to do while I wait for catz to confirm a new issue I found with the 2500 :D
