What is it, you can upgrade/add on to the 1000?

Yea.. Course, i don't know if i got money enough lol..

But, i know you can add a harddrive. And that's for saving beats and stuff, right?

And you can also upgrade.. RAM? With a Kingston 512 or something? But what does this do?
And is there anything else that you can add/upgrade? Thanks.

-hardrive up to 40 with os 2.0
-VHS tape to prop it up

And if i get a harddrive, CF cards wont be necessary?

thats the whole idea, yeah, if you get a HD, then you wont need CF cards.

but seeing as the current mpc os only supports up to 2gig HD, its not worth it at this point to buy one, order hdm-10 converter, open your mpc up, install it.

its just a preference thing.

personally, i just use a 265 CF which is more than enough for a few projets, and i keep all my files stored on 2 different harddrives - and get them there via cardreader.

you should look into some software first, get aqainted with that first, then move on to hardware if still interested.

do research first, see if the 'mpc' is really what you want. there are many alternatives, and they all do roughly the same thing.

look into keyboards, personally, i wish i had explored this at the time of decision, cause i probly would have a triton right now, and not a mpc.

and in 4 month, the MPC1000-BK wuill be out, with os.2 and compatible with a harddrive. it will also come with the 128MB internal ram upgrade. (which lets you use upto 128MB of sounds and/or sample time - as opposed to the 16 it comes with.)

Allows you to load up more files on each Mode>Load import.

you can get 1 or 2 footswitch (momentary, also called non-latch type). cheap ones go for $10 or less.

if you ask what it does, i would aswer "rtfm" (read the f***ing manual )

Fair point. I suppose whatever you need to get the job the done.

Been producing on Fruity Loops since Marts.. I GOTTA GET Something new.. It's getting boring. + I play drums, and have made some other shit, in the past (music related.)

aside from that though:
if your a drummer, then you'll like and appreaciate the sequencing a drum machine offers. the mpc is a drum machine/sampler so its a worthy of serious consideration.

i personally like the live interaction that hardware offers, but now-a-days you can get hardware peripherals for a PC/MAC that a program fully supports. MIDI is also something to look into. The reason i chose the MPC, is - computers are problematic, and i like the fact i can run my sampler/drummachine/sequencer of choice separatly. also, i can run lines, and cables, which i see as a +, but some people like it all intergrated with their PC/MAC. i use a mixer and have physical control over stuff. I can also run it by itself, its stand alone, it doesn't rely on other hardware to function properly. - these are just my opinons why i like it over computer based stuff. plus, i HATE computer screens, and sitting behind one. MPCs are portable and less strenious.

just make sure you know what your doing before you do it. i kind of got lucky... i rushed some decisions ,and being big purchases, it was foolish, but thankfully i made a good guess, and dont regret it.

even with the os upgrade, the RAM limitation will still be 128mb. besides the hard drive, the 1k will not be able to add any other piece of hardware. you really should read the manual.

hey, read somewhere that 128 ram actually equals half of that in the mpc... so 256 would actually equal 128. true? false? don't care about the question?
