if your a drummer, then you'll like and appreaciate the sequencing a drum machine offers. the mpc is a drum machine/sampler so its a worthy of serious consideration.

i personally like the live interaction that hardware offers, but now-a-days you can get hardware peripherals for a PC/MAC that a program fully supports. MIDI is also something to look into. The reason i chose the MPC, is - computers are problematic, and i like the fact i can run my sampler/drummachine/sequencer of choice separatly. also, i can run lines, and cables, which i see as a +, but some people like it all intergrated with their PC/MAC. i use a mixer and have physical control over stuff. I can also run it by itself, its stand alone, it doesn't rely on other hardware to function properly. - these are just my opinons why i like it over computer based stuff. plus, i HATE computer screens, and sitting behind one. MPCs are portable and less strenious.

just make sure you know what your doing before you do it. i kind of got lucky... i rushed some decisions ,and being big purchases, it was foolish, but thankfully i made a good guess, and dont regret it.

I would just like to know, what does it, when i upgrade RAM? Makes loading faster? But, I'm looking @ sparq's sig.

no, it allows you to load more/longer samples to work with

just kind of gives you more onboard room. more room to sample, to use, to have programs with thier sounds open.

do this, go sample 16 megs worth of sounds, to your PC/MAC and see your list of sounds. (mind you with the space the os needs to operate, its more like 11.4 or something)

there, thats what the mpc with OUT the upgraded ram can store in it's memory. mind you, this isn't what it can save, you can save this to a HD or CF card.

Now, with 128MB, you can sample like 8 times that amount. you can have huge loops open, you can have multiple takes, you can have many of the same sample with an effect on it., after resampling. you can record vocals if you wanna try that, you can allso re-sample a whole beat as one big "sample" and move that .Wav file to your PC/MAC and have an amazing quality piece.
