Card Reader : Weird SCSI type connection

i just picked up a cheap card reader for a mate from the computer market, hoping it would install easily into his mpc, as it turns out it doesnt have the standard cables. any1 know if a converter is available to turn this into a standard 50 pin ribbon. the attachment on the back of the card reader is shown above.

That looks like, based on visual pin count, to be a 68 high density pin "WIDE SCSI PROTOCOL" or maybe even "LVD SCSI PROTOCOL" socket.

The MPC2000XL uses a "NARROW SCSI PROTOCOL" controller chip, ANSI SCSI II to be more specific to handle all SCSI communication.

The MPC2000XL uses a "50 pin high density/50 pin micro d" socket for it's external connector and a normal "50 pin centronics style ribbon" for the internal socket.

If this card reader can't be set into "NARROW SCSI PROTOCOL" mode then an adapter cable alone will not help. ( additional bits will be needed ).

Some more information about this card reader may help to identify how it should be connected.

I doubt that is even SCSI. Looks like the types that use a proprietary controller card. Having two connectors is a dead givaway and mentioned here: http://www.midicase.com/card_reader_guide.htm

cheers lads, the fact that it has no jumpers to set the scsi id got me confused. and yes it did come with a pci controller. looks like this ones a dud.

its a Litronic Argus 2500 i should have saved myself the headache and read mpc3000'/s guide.. but its was cheap so no biggy..

Yep ... the LITRONIC BAD GUY !!!

Certainly no good for an MPC ...

Maybe stick it in an old computer if you have a PCI slot to waste.
