tricking out 1000s?

hey all. i'm new here, and i tried searching around for the answer to my question, but i wasn't able to come up with anything. my apologies if i'm asking something that's been addressed before (hopefully not over and over again, though).

i'm pretty sure that i'm going to be getting an mpc1000 just as soon as i can afford it. i've heard a lot of people complain about the quality of some of the components, like the sliders and the knobs/dials, and while i'm not going to let that stop me from getting one, i am wondering if it's possible to pay someone like vst to swap out the standard ones with higher quality replacement parts. or even do it on my own. anybody have any experience with this? thoughts? concerns? discuss.

i dunno about being lower quality, the pads have a different feel, more stiffer than the classic mpc pad. if the pads ever wear out just replace em, as far as knobs never heard anybody swap em, i dunno why they would.

In my opinion, unless your familiar with the feel of previous Akai samplers, it would be waste of time and money to change out knobs and pads. If not why not just get used to whats already there?

well, while i'm not used to the feel of the rest of the mpc line, i am used to the feel of "cheap" versus "well-made"...i'm not assuming that the 1000s have cheap parts, i've just heard that more than once or twice (usually from people who claim to be used to the more rugged construction of 2000/3000/4000s), and i like to do my homework before i drop several hundred dollars on a piece of gear. plus, i think that i'm gonna buy mine new from vst, and i figure that if it's possible, and affordable, and it's something that i think that i'll want, i might as well have them do it right out of the box, and have it good to go when it shows up in the mail.

in your experience, are the sliders and knobs, etc. pretty solid?

everythings solid, the only thing that i find shaky is the data wheel, and the pads.
