I'm as new to MPC as I'm to this board. I've been reading true these board to gain some use full knowlegdes wich was alot to be found here :D

But still I'm having trouble setting up my gear so I can greate a final bounce to track from my beats.

WORKFLOW :
MPC as sampler en sequencer
REASON as sound module with Radium 49 keys to play (goes true MPC)

The output from the MPC goes to the input channel on my soundcard I can now record it but this is mabey not the best way to do it.
I'd like to use cubase for recording etc , so i can master my songs and lay out the vocals on the beats aswell
mabey even use the multitrack from the MPC to my soundcard I tryed that but no sound :S

So I'd like to hear what ya'll think is the best way to do it

you can track from the mpc into cubase two ways (i think). you have to make sure your cubase settings are set to your soundcard driver.

www.cubase.net check em out.

first what soundcard/audio interface do you have? what midi interface do you have?

By MTZ Tue Jan 03, 2006 5:43 pm
I'm using an ESI Juli@ and Maya44 MKII soundcard
midi goes true Juli@ and sound true Maya44

I know is not best way to do it but I'm on a budget .
In future I'll be looking for a better interface but currently this what I'm working with.

Thnx for replaying was almost afraid that my english was that crappy you all wouldn't understand since I seen so many vieuws but no answers.

thnx in advanced

ok, here is how i have my setup. i have a lexicon omega audio/midi interface. audio is going through that. i also have a m-audio uno midi I/O. i am running nuendo (which is very similar to cubase)i have nuendo as the master of my mpc (midi out of the lexicon (nuendo) to midi in of the mpc. i have my mpc the master of reason, midi out of the mpc to midi in of the uno (going to reason) both reason and nuendo are using the lexicon for audio. i also use the oxygen 8 to control all keyboard functions via usb. i also have a midi cable going from the midi out on the back of the oxygen to the midi in of the mpc. (that's so when i am using reason as a sound mod, i can use the keyboard to record in the mpc)

now back to your setup. you want to make sure in reason, go preference and make sure you have your audio (maya44) selected then go to midi (or advanced midi) and under bus A make sure you see the ESI Juli@.

also is reason going to the same speakers (monitors) as reason? the reason (no pun intended) why i ask is because reason is not sending sound to the mpc. in fact the mpc is sending midi data to reason.

thnx currently I'm just having problems getting cubase setup right :S
it won't get any midi data from the mpc and vice versa
I'd like to use cubase as master but Just can't get it to do that.

I use cubase SX.
So how would I go with the midi settings from cubase so that I can slave my mpc to cubase ?

in cubase, go to transport (i believe, i'm not in front of my computer) then go to sync and make sure that you have your midi interface checked off under midi clock. then on the mpc, go to mode +pad9 (midi/sync) then press the sync tab and select the midi input you want to sync.

to get sound into cubase from the mpc, you have to use the assignable outs and 1/4" cables and setup tracks in cubase.

watch my video on track and sync, located in my video signature.

i think he has to go to devices to change midi and audio settings

devices is where you change the audio settings and in sync is where you change the midi settings.

at least that's how it is in nuendo and cuabse SX is the closest cubase to nuendo.

i will double check when i get home.

I thnx ya all for the advice got shit running now :D.
But still got some problems with recording but that is more of a soundcard issue. I'll gona look out for a new one since I also need a new pc.
Any good recommendations ???
MBOX2 was one of the things I was looking at since you get pro tools with the bundle version. Any other wich are worth looking for ?
