2kXL + Motif ES Rack - delima

I searched 68 pages before posting this question. Please forgive me if it has been asked before:

Part of my gear consists of the MPC 2kXL, a Motif ES Rack, and a MoPhatt module.

When I record a loop using the MoPhatt, everything is fine.

When I record a loop using the Motif, it is always a beat off. For instance, if I record a measure of 1, 2, 3, 4; the loop, as well as the play back from start will give me _, 2, 3, 4 (ignoring or skipping the first beat, if that makes any sense).

Has anyone else experienced this issue and/or does anyone else recognize this issue?

Please advise as to if the issue is within the MPC or the Motif, and how to resolve this issue.

Because you dont have your motif hooked up to its own out put. What is happening is called "midi LAG" The motif needs its own midi out in the mpc. DONT DAISY CHAIN USING THE THRU PORT

So the Midi connection should go:

Midi Out (MPC) --> Midi In (Motif)
and
Midi Out (Motif) --> Midi In (MPC) ?

Is that correct?

Nah u only need one connection into the mpc.

MPC MIDI OUT A---> Motif midi in

When u incorporate another module than u wanna go

MPC MIDI OUT B----> Mo Phat Midi IN

Ok...that's how I've been using it (except the Motif on B, while the MoPhatt is on A.)

If anyone else has ideas as to why the Motif is skipping the first beat, and how to resolve it, I'm all ears.

try this though....

sometimes MIDI has to take a lil time to sync after it starts, so what u may wanna try is to give it a blank measure or two before u start recording... so on the MPC, add two blank measures in the beginning of the sequence or song, and it should catch correctly on Measure 3 or 2, so really measure 3 or 2 will be your first measure

it can happen wit anything MIDI, just depends on how the MIDI computer inside any machine hooks up with the other machine its hooking up with

Sounds good...I'll try that. Or worse-come-to-worse, make my first beat, the last beat, so it plays as the loop recycles.

I appreciate the suggestions guys. I'm sure that you know like I do, that the smallest inconsistencies in your music can be the most frustrating things sometimes.

I heard there was an issue with the Motif ES rack receiving midi signals.

oh for real....

The issue that I am experiencing between my MPC and my Motif ES Rack module is that:

When I create a track/loop using my Motif, the first measure of the loop is cut off.

Midi B (out) of the MPC connects to Midi In of the Motif (another module is using Midi A of the MPC).

A friend mentioned something about latency within the MPC, but I've never heard of any latency problems which were the fault of the MPC, and in addition, my other module does not experience this problem.
