Before anyone says shit, I did my research. I looked through damn near every topic about both of them.
I know most things about both machines, but I'm still stuck... here's the dilemma..

I can get an MPC 1000 for $750 or I can get a used 2000 Classic for $650.
The 1000 seems like an obvious choice because it's portable, it's got the flash card shit (a more reliable medium than zip or floppy), it's got the internal hard drive capability, etc. I'm on the move a lot (constantly on trains, getting in cars, hopping on planes, shit like that... i'm a busy man). However, there are a lot of people who I've talked to that swear by the 2000 classic because of simplicity.

I know it's probably pretty obvious that I should just get the 1k, but I wanted to see what your opinions were.

well, i own a 2k, ive had it for 6 years and theres still features im not hip to. So yeah, its easy to make a beat on it, but theres alot of features in this box. Lets put it like this, i wouldnt trade my 2k for a 1k, never. go mess with both machines and see which one fits you better. I never made a beat on a 1k, so i cant attest to it, but i dont know, it seems like its gonna break or something, its flimsy. plus i hear alot about pad problems, when i been smashin my 2ks (full sized) pads for years and they are fine. peace out

i wouldnt know which is easier since i havent used the 1000. but if your always on the move, why not?

seems easy to take along with you. but the 2k has done its job for me and continues to do it!

the only complaints about the 1k ive heard on a regular basis has been the "feel" of the pads. personally, for you it sounds like the usb/flashcard interface would help (since it doesnt spin, it wouldnt be affected by vibrations/nothing to break) and its smaller so travelling would be better.

I own a 2000XL, and while i love it i could NEVER carry it with me traveling....its just too big.

i say for you? get the 1k, bar none.

1k has smaller pads? I've never checked one out, but i assumed that they were the same as the others.

get the one 1k. dude, you already know what you want.
simplicity, 2k. more expandability and features, 1k.

I must say that the 1K is kinde dissapoint me alot. Sure it has good sound and it works well. but in the end I think it doesn't really fit the prise and that is my opinion.

After buy an MPC 1K i really concluded that is not the hardware you buy to make the beats but the engery and time you spend doing music. I have been looking over these board and read most of the topics wich seem to much off bullshit talk to me. I haven't heard that much work from this forum so kinde think it is al just about looking and having the gear and NOT USING IT.

If I offended any one that was my intention cuz if you feel offended by what I'm saying you will be proberly one off those peeps. Try not to look in terms of gear but more in how I wanna work and what is the best way for ME to create beats. Get some skill with some demo's and tutorials wich are to befound on this forum (one of the things I do like about this forum ) and stop asking what should I get and wat is best..... I have been doing that for my self for quite awhile and I can tel you all from experience IT ALL DOESN"T matter...

Got a friend of my he has less gear but still greates fine beats. I'm just a starter doing my thing so if people like to burn me for say these please do I coulded care less

2000xl's been fairly mobile for me, I've put it in overhead compartments on planes, greyhounds ect...
