Front screw next to cf card slot

I am trying to open up my 1k so test a few hard drives i have laying around. For the last 30 minutes i have been turning this screw to no avail. Has anyone else been through this? If so what did you do? any help would be great as i am about to just break it right off.

This isnt good. At least im not alone (no offense). Has anyone else went through this? If so did you manage to get it out and how?

here's a stupid statement.... if you're turning it the correct way to take it off, then you will not break it. the only way that i can see it breaking is if you are turning it as if to tighten it but if you're turning to the left and it's not coming out, then hold the mpc where the screw is facing the floor and take the screwdriver and kind of like push it to the side a little and let go fast. if it's loose, it should just fall right out.

Im sure i was turning it the right way. What i meant break it was to just pull it right off. I even took the side panels off and i can see the screw turning but it simply wont come off. Its like the screw is stripped. Thats sad because i got this machine new when they first came out.

take the few screws off along the sides, they hold the main face plate. (to the frame)

take that off (face plate)

try to push the bottom of the screw up, while spinning counter-clockwise

I tried that but something was holding the face plate down. I will give this another try but i was able to get the front part but the back part did come off.

I still can't get the face plate off. I've been trying for a 1/2 hour. That screw next to the CF slot keeps spinning. I tried to grab it with my nails while spinning it but it won't budge. Which screws exactly do I need to remove from the side? You mean the ones holding the red side piece? Please help!

this is hard to explain -

i would suggest taking the bottom cover off first, then, from there, take of the screws that are mandatory to remove inorder to take the top plate/face plate off. you will be able to see which screws have to come off after you take the bbottom plate cover.

i used a small flat head screw driver and was able to unscrew it while move it so the screw could get a grip.....after a while i got it.

Well, after struggling for an hour, my wife walks in and asks what I'm doing. I explain to her the situation. She looks at me and say "Why don't you just use the power drill with a phillips head to unscrew it?" I explained to her that it's stripped inside and turning it faster won't help. She says "what do you have to lose?" Good point. So I got out the trusty power drill, attached the phillips head and...

two seconds later the screw was in my hand
five minutes later I was banging out a beat I loaded from the hd
