Memory questions

Cool, get on down to bizzness now man.

for future help, anyone installing stuff on the mpc or cpu for that matter. anything with circuit chip, make sure to ground yourself before touching the chip!
all you gotta do is touch something metal so the static electricity is discharged.
a static gaurd wristband would be ideal, dunno how much those are but they will save you in some cases!
even if there is a spark you cant feel that hits the circuit board,the board is dead and you need a new one. all it takes is a little static electricity to ruin your equipment.

So when I open my mpc. I shouldnt do it on carpet,yes? and I also need to touch metal while im opening my mpc?

On the carpet might not be a good idea cause your feet dragging on the carpet produces Static Elec. in which if you don't discharge it from your body you can possibly ruin your board. Go outside and grab some metal rail or something, in the grage or in the house. Then try not to drag your feet on the carpet. If you have a wrist ground strap the end opposite of your hand needs to be grounded to ground or a bare piece of metal.
Proceed to open your MPC and handle your business.

Ok I installed it..I think everything went well..i hope.

but I did shift+sample and it says I have 184 seconds in sample time.

This means everything went over smooth right???

Yeah. It should say 32 megabytes installed at the bottom. Mine shows 189.2 seconds available. I'm not sure why you have 5 seconds less but your MPC is obviously recognizing the memory.

yeah, i just checked it was 189 i was just seeing things..

we can let this die.. but dont be surprised if i make more threads though, i have a lot of questions about this dope machine.

well if any kind of a shock like that touches the board or ram or any cpu chip your pretty much f*cked
even if you dont see the spark its still enough static discharge to fry the electronics
so its a good idea to discharge that static electricity by touching something that will make you spark (little sister,doorknob, anything metal really)
and yeah i was just wondering what the normal time is for the 32 mb
i got my ram free from my old computer shop job and its 189.2 so i guess its workin
