Other than what you learn on this forum the rest is really trial and error. Visualize what you want to do and approach it creatively. Use what you got to get what you want, don't hesitate to experiment.

yo wsup dj note,
On the real you don't necessarily need any videos to understand the basics of the mpc. When i first got mine it took me like 2 days to start making beats, and i never even touched an mpc before that! I won't lie,i did have alot of questions, mainly for the fact i didn't really take the time to read the manual thoroughly. But trust me,just read the manual and you'll be cool.
here's a link to the mpc2000xl manual:http://www.akaipro.com/us/omdload.html
p.s. yea there are videos out there for the mpc,if you want, try sample kings.com.But i really don't think you need them,I'm getting by without them.

To learn your MPC jus use these ingredients:
1 - The manual (got to look in it at least once to see wats goin on)
2 - This forum (ask questions, thats wy we r here)
3 - Trial & error (what lifes all about)
The MPC may seem daunting at first, but once you find how to cater it to ur needs you'll be fine. Nothin better than good ol' practice if u ask me..hope this helps peace
ohh i dont think u need to be spendin ur hard earned money on any videos or anything...follow the tutorials on this site, and check the boards...

Yes there will be a book - I've spent the past year writing it and I'm currently finishing off the last couple of chapters - it will have a few hundred pages with easy to read, step-by-step tutorials and audio examples, MPC samples and programs etc. It will only be available on www.mpc-samples.com and it will be in digital format (a PDF E-book). Price hasn't been set yet, but I can tell you that it covers pretty much all you'll ever need to know from your MPC.

They have 2 videos for the XL. They're no substitute for the manual, but if you learn better by watching someone, they'll get you through the basics very quickly.
They're a little pricey, but you can just sell them on eBay after you're done with them.

Don't buy the videos. I got them both, with the full collection of sounds on zip disk.
While the samples from the disk are dope. The video is a little meh...
Trust me you can learn alot more, going through old threads and asking questions here.
peace
