A few days after I got the MPC2000xl I picked up the AKAI IB-M208P EXPANSION BOARD thinking I was definitely going to utilize the 8 outs.

I posted a few days ago about having some questions as to how to run a sp-303 with the 2000xl...I took the advice I got from here...and also tried running other ways to see if this would work....well unfortunately it didn't.

I got kind of curious, so I brought the 303 over to a friends...he has a 60mkII. So I ran the input of the 303 into outputs 1 + 2 of the 60, loaded some sounds I had on floppy up in the pads...made a quick sequence...looped it...turned the 303 on, added some delay...and it worked perfectly.

So now Im confused...is there something I didn't do with the 2000xl? Has anyone ever had this kind of problem with the expansion board? Is it possible I installed it wrong? or Maybe it is just a dud? Who know's but this shit has me stuck and frustrated! lol

Just Trobleshooting here, but did you assign your sounds to the outputs (8 outs) or did you just use the Main outs on the MPC 2KXL?

If you are using the 8 outs you'll need to assign them, try the mains and see if you still don't get what you're after.

Stereo samples will be assigned to 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, and mono samples will be assigned 1,2,3,4,...

Thanks enotide...yeah im running this stereo through outs 1 + 2...Is there something internal I need to do in order to assign the outs? Or should it just do it automatically once I have everything connected (303 in to 2000xl outs 1 + 2 )? As you can see Im still getting familiar with the 2000xl.

By the way enotide, Im feeling those sounds you got! I noticed you got some circuit bent equipment...the only thing I got is a bent tr-727...pretty sweet though...makes some nice aphex-like glitches/sounds.

Check Page 131 in the Manual to see how to assign outs and FX (if you have the FX card as well).

If you don't have a hard copy of the manual, you can find one online and the info is in Chapter 8 Mixer funtions.

Thanks for checking my music out, yeah I do a little bending know and then.
I haven't touched my 727 or 707 yet but I'll do it soon I'm sure.

You can learn alot on this site, just look through the posts or do a search, and also read the manual it will help you learn this machine in no time at all.

Have fun making them trax.

Truth....

well when I used the 60mkII I didn't need to internally set outputs to effect the sound....I just plugged in...

With the 2000xl I found out that you needed to hit SHIFT + Mixer...hit F2 (I think) for individual outputs...Hit the pad of the sound you wanna effect..Hit open new window...and then assign the outputs you are using...in my case it was just 1 + 2. Then from there it all worked...

Hopefully I made some sense there. I was initially under the impression you didn't need to assign outputs internally...I was wrong! lol

Thanks again to anyone who gave me some advice!
