ok, i might hv to switch my lovely 3000 to the smaller 1000,,,what i wanna know, is if there is some diffrences in the swing,..(using it with xbase09+xox.) the thing is that my music is so repetetive so im dependant on the feel of the seq.
I really love my 3k(ofc), but it weights alot, and i need to be portable.
So u guys have an opinion, before i go to the stores?, thnx

I think the clock difference is sort of a myth. the 1000 has all the same quantize options anyway...

do you sync the mpc to the jomox or the other way around ? any difference in groove when switching ?

If you love the 3000, try the 1000 for a while before you switch, otherwise it will be a regret. I've seen people regret that move. if you just liked the 3000 then it would be a different story. and it's not that heavy.

have you ever touched a 3k?

yes, as well as a 2kxl and 1k. I chose the 60 for its sound, and because its size makes it more comfortable to work on (cheaper too, although its value might not drop as fast as recent models... it should even increase).
a hardware sequencer is a hardware sequencer... just tight.
I found much less difference (clock precision) between the mpcs and boxes that I've used like R8, MMT8, DR660, HR16... than between software and hardware. software can be sloppy (except atari and maybe mac...)
the 3000 is just better built and sounds better... and I would surely have one if I had the cash. But I truely can't believe that the 3000 grooves better...
it is just an instrument (and what you do with it) and it has been confirmed by professionals (thinking some itws I read of evil dee, buckwild...), who might hear better than most of us who spend time on this type of forums
of course going from the 3000 to the 1000 (with the plastic, small buttons and all and average sound... but more features that can be useful if you don't have other samplers) might feel like comparing a genuine 50s fender guitar to a corean 90s copy, or just comparing an original blue note pressage and a reissue...
but it will truely be more portable!!

You will be dissapointed with the 1k. As most peeps on the forums know. I HATE THE MPC 1K

thnx, guys! this make it clear that i hv to test the 1k at home before, doing a switch...trust your doubts :) Would hate to see it go, and i have a nice case. But i'll go overseas soon and dragging around a 3k doesnt seems to be very realistic, well ofc it could be done..
Too just say here 'bout my seq importance/dependance on the 3k seq, If i turn say the xbase as the master clock, i'll have the same ish going on, right?. Then after a couple of like 20-40 bars, the repetetive pattern/xoxbox grooves, just don't groove anymore. Something is gone. So i need the mpc, like i see it.
Maybe would need an opinion fr someone who have had both machines, if there's someone?

Do NOT do it... I lug it around all the time

That the 3000 and 60 have far different groove factors, I assure you that it is clearly no myth. We've run a few tests, and I reassure you that the difference is very noticable when comparing the 3000, 60 / to a 1000 or 2000 (XL) even.

Ask DFACE....he ran the test.

then I can only believe you for the groove factor (I suppose same swing settings show a little difference on different machines)... but just for midi sync between 2 machines, there shouldn't be a difference, or else records made that way couldn't be beatmatched

well it may sound like bull perhaps, but when runnin on the xbase's int clock(wich they say should be rock solid) thing just sound boring for me, the soul is lost,..let me include here that im quite picky with my stuff. If i dont have a groove going on, i cant work any further.
However, it seems that i have a solution for my probs, im gonna lock my timings like an template on a DAW in my pb, I think its the best right now.
The sad thing is that im not exploring/using the machines fully potential, due to the fast i have other gear taking care of that part. Sometimes i wish it would be just me, mympc, and a mic

Once the 2.0 OS comes out, I see you trading your 2kxl for a 1k
